THE INNER WORKINGS OF MY MIND

THE INNER WORKINGS OF MY MINDTHE INNER WORKINGS OF MY MINDTHE INNER WORKINGS OF MY MIND

105 Short St.

This lovely little slice of Boerne, Texas was originally served as a garage in the early 1900's, for the homestead on the corner lot.  It was later transitioned into a one bedroom, one bath homestead of its own in the 1940's.

"Raise the Roof"

With the ceilings only being 7' throughout, it felt very cramped. Not wanting to change the floor plan but still open up the space, I opted to vault the ceiling in the living room, as well as the bedroom.

Floor Plan

Making a lot out of a little

With space being minimal and storage slim to none, I let the kitchen millwork flow into the living space. Additionally, I designed a hidden island that could be rolled out and used as a kitchen table. The foldable stools are hidden in the two flanking cabinets.

Repurposed Chimney

During demolition we uncovered the original chimney that provided ventilation for the wood stove. Cleaned up and "framed" by the smooth white drywall. The beautiful brick work that was once covered and out of commission is now on display as a piece of art that also functions as the new vent hood.

Repurposed Siding

During demolition we also carefully took down the original 1940's tongue & groove siding with the intent to reuse it as the ceiling for the living room and possibly the bedroom.
